RegisterWhat is Bike to Work Day? Bike to Work Day is a free, fun annual event hosted by Way to Go, a program of the Denver Regional Council of Governments. The annual event takes place on the fourth Wednesday of June, with thousands of residents and businesses in the nine-county region joining in the celebration. This year, Bike to Work Day is June 26, 2024. Who organizes Bike to Work Day? Each year, the Denver Regional Council of Governments? Way to Go program organizes the winter and summer Bike to Work Day events with help from member governments, agency partners and employers in the metro region. Bike to Work Day is also a grassroots effort by people in the region who care about educating residents and businesses on the benefits of using two wheels to get to work to reduce traffic and reduce emissions from solo driving. Can I participate by walking to work or commuting some other way than driving alone? The primary goal of Bike to Work Day is to promote commuting to work by bike, even if it is for just one leg of the trip (e.g., bus to bike). However, Way to Go offers other fun opportunities to get involved in sustainable commuting like Monthly Challenges, where commuters can earn points and win prizes for tracking eco-friendly trips. How do you ensure that Bike to Work Day is a safe event? Safety is the top priority for Bike to Work Day organizers. We want to ensure that Bike to Work Day continues to be a fun and safe community event that everyone can join. Staff closely watches weather and air quality conditions and will communicate with riders and station organizers if there is an emergency. The Way to Go team recommends that riders and station organizers check their local weather alerts and local government websites for trail detour and closure information. ?Website and contacts: ?
